Fun & Creativity
Physical Development
Physical development experiences and activities are crucial in the early years.
Our Educators provide opportunities for young children to be active and interactive and to develop their coordination, control, and movement. Children must also be helped to understand the importance of physical activity and make healthy choices concerning food.
Nature Wanderers Childcare creates/chooses safe spaces outdoors/indoors for children to develop physically.
Young children, 3 to 12 years old children, are offered directed and free indoor/ outdoor small and large muscle activities and experiences; gardening, sand, and water play; blocks and manipulative play age appropriate. Young children who are not enrolled in school yet have the opportunity to participate in age-appropriate games while the age-school children are in school.
When all children are present, the games will be chosen very carefully to allow all children to engage if interested. Equipment and tools are selected accordingly.
We offer to our children, most importantly, that everyone needs encouragement, support, and co-player

Creative
Nature Wanderers Childcare believes that self-expression is a very important aspect of childhood development. We promote artistic expression, playful expression, and building expression.
Artistic expression is one of the best ways for children to express him/herself using open-ended arts/crafts activities, loose parts activities, dress-up, costume creating, and designing.
Playful expression is yet another way of helping children express him/herself. By playing with other children, through sports and other fun activities, we teach them cooperation, relationship skills, and even how to respect others.
‘Building Expression" is the building of objects. Things that require construction, such as dollhouses or model robots and cars, are all good ways of promoting children’s natural progression and creativity.
Language Art
Nature Wanderers Childcare supports Language art through invitations and creating environments and opportunities of self-expression:
When we play and work together, we have something in common to talk about. Thus, we promote children's disposition to learn through language-rich activities:
Story-telling
Creating stories
Reading
Debates
Singing
Tongue twisters
Riddles
Rhymes
Puppet play
Language games
Emotional
We encourage our children to express their feelings, empathy, self-concept, and self-worth.
In addition, we value and include multicultural activities where children learn and value their and others' backgrounds, celebrations, and heritage.
Our role as educators is to create opportunities for children's engagement and participation in a combination of small and large group activities or choose individual activities of their interest that fully support holistic play that supports and allows children to learn and practice their emotions. These opportunities include young children activities incorporated with older children that create various opportunities for younger children to learn from older and for older children to practice their skills as caregivers, co-learners, co-researchers, co-imaginers and leadership skills.
Intellectual Development
Nature Wanderers Childcare supports intellectual children's dispositions to learn through play.
Cognitive development is characterized by the way a child learns, acquires knowledge, and interacts with his surrounding environment. Different cognitive skills are acquired as a child meets certain developmental milestones, but a child of any ability will benefit from activities that promote active learning. As a parent, you can encourage your child’s cognitive development in the areas of memory, concentration, attention, and perception by incorporating simple activities into your everyday routine.
Here are ten easy ways we use on a daily basis to help children's cognitive development:
1. Nature detective
2. Identify Noises
3. Offer Choices
4. Ask Questions
5. Visit Interesting Places
6. Offer a Variety of Games
7. Brain teasers
8. Memory games
9. Sing-a-longs
10. Experiments
